As a girl, Danielle Filosa’s haven was the paint section of Home Depot. The neat, color-coordinated rows of material—not only to look at, as coveting goes, but to touch and take, as if they had always belonged to her—brought her levels of joy most children feel only in candy shops. She began to cook in college, discovering it as artistic process, an exploration of color and texture with the plate as her canvas. In her creative project, Savory Swatch, Filosa uses the paint swatches to illustrate everyday recipes, highlighting the relationship between palate and palette. See more at savoryswatch.tumblr.com.
